§ 972.01 DEFINITIONS.
   For the purpose of this article, the following definitions shall apply unless the context clearly indicates or requires a different meaning.
   ALUMINUM. Empty aluminum beverage or food cans.
   BULK ITEMS. Large bulky items to include refrigerators, freezers, stoves or “white” appliances.
   COLLECTOR. The entity or entities authorized by the city to collect municipal waste, recyclable materials and/or leaf waste from residences, or authorized by residences or commercial, municipal and institutional establishments that do not receive collection services from the city to collect such materials from those residences or establishments.
   COMMERCIAL ESTABLISHMENT. Any establishment engaged in a nonmanufacturing or nonprocessing business, including, but not limited to, stores, markets, office buildings, restaurants, shopping centers and theaters. This term shall also include lunchroom facilities and offices associated with manufacturing or processing business.
   CORRUGATED PAPER. Structural paper material with an inner core shaped in rigid furrows and ridges.
   PERSON. Any individual, partnership, corporation, association, institution, cooperative enterprise, municipality, municipal authority, federal government or agency, state institution or agency, or any other legal entity whatsoever which is recognized by law as the subject of rights and duties.
   RECYCLING. The collection, separation, recovery and sale or reuse of metals, glass, paper, aluminum and corrugated cardboard which would otherwise be disposed or processed as municipal waste, or other mechanized separation and treatment of municipal waste (other than through combus-tion) and creation and recovery of reusable materials other than a fuel for the operation of energy.
   RECYCLABLE MATERIALS-RESIDENTIAL UNIT STRUCTURES. The following materials are to be considered recyclable materials for residential units and must be source separated from recyclable material: aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, corrugated cardboard, newspapers, tin/bi-metal/steel cans.
   RECYCLABLE MATERIALS-NONRESIDENTIAL UNITS. The following materials are consi-dered recyclable materials and must be source separated from recyclable material for all non-residential units: aluminum cans, glass bottles and jars, corrugated cardboard, newspapers, tin/bi-metal/steel cans.
   YARD WASTE. The following materials are considered to be recyclable as yard waste for all units: leaves, grass, brush/tree trimmings and Christmas trees.
