§ 553.06 REGISTRATION AND BOND REQUIRED FOR AIR RIFLES AND BB GUNS.
   (A)   No person shall own, possess, carry or shoot any air rifle, air pistol or gun, commonly known as a BB gun or any gun of similar character or kind in the city, without first having the same registered and posting an indemnity bond as provided in this section.
   (B)   The application for registration shall be made to the Police Chief and shall state the name, age and address of each applicant and the description of the gun. A certificate of registration shall be issued upon payment of a fee of $0.50 and the posting of an indemnity bond with good surety thereon, in the sum of $500 indemnifying the city, and conditioned on the lawful and proper use of the registered weapon within the city.
   (C)   In addition to any criminal remedy, the court may order the Police Chief to retain the weapon until the person, and the parent or guardian if he is a minor, appears and proceeds to have the same properly registered and posts an indemnity bond as required. In the event of violation, the bond shall be forfeited as conditioned therein.
