§ 505.04 NOTIFICATION TO OWNER WHEN LICENSED DOG IMPOUNDED.
   (A)   Any dog so impounded shall be kept for a period of seven days, anytime during which the owner may retrieve the dog by paying a service fee to the city. Upon receipt of the service fee of $5, the city shall issue a receipt which when presented to the persons contracted or authorized to pick up and impound dogs shall serve as a notice that the city's requirements have been satisfied. The owner of such dog is required to pay all kennel or pound fees to the owner or manager of the animal holding facility. The owner of any dog so impounded, if known, is required to pay the service fee regardless whether or not the dogs impounded are retrieved by the owner. Failure of the owner to pay the service fee after proper notification that the dog has been impounded, constitutes a violation of the city dog ordinance and will subject that person to arrest. The Court Clerk shall send a registered letter to the owner of any impounded dog notifying that owner of the required service fee. If the service fee has not been paid within 10 days, an arrest warrant for violation of the city dog ordinance shall be issued by the Court Clerk.
   (B)   Any dog so impounded and not retrieved after a period of seven days shall become the property of the pound. Any property so obtained by the pound shall be disposed of as deemed best and appropriate.
