(A) No person appointed to any municipal office shall:
(1) Directly or indirectly give, solicit or receive, or in any manner be concerned in giving, soliciting or receiving any assignment, subscription, or contribution for or against any political campaign or candidate for Mayor or City Council.
(2) Engage in any political activity of any kind or nature for or against any candidate for Mayor or City Council.
(3) Take part in the management, affairs or political campaigns for or against any candidate for Mayor or City Council.
(B) The provisions in division (A) above do not apply to any person who is himself or herself a candidate for Mayor or City Council and shall not impede any persons' right as a citizen to cast his or her vote. Further, said provisions do not prohibit a person appointed to any municipal office from campaigning for or against any county or municipal ordinance or resolution, or any state, county or local levy, issue, referendum, ballot initiative, charter amendment or constitutional amendment.
