(A) In their interpretation and application, the provisions of this chapter shall be held to be minimum requirements unless otherwise stated herein; adopted for the promotion of the public health, safety, convenience, comfort, prosperity, and the general welfare by regulating and restricting the location of buildings and other structures and of premises to be used for trade, industry, residences and other specified uses; by regulating and limiting the height of buildings and other structures hereafter erected or altered; by regulating the bulk and location of buildings or other structures hereafter erected or altered, the percentage of lot occupancy, setback building lines and the area of yards, courts and other open spaces; and for all of the purposes herein before described, by dividing the village into districts as herein provided, which districts are deemed and determined best suited to carry out such purposes.
(B) Whenever the requirements of this chapter are at variance with the requirements of any other lawfully adopted rules, regulations, ordinances, or resolutions, the most restrictive or that imposing the higher standards shall govern.
