ORDINANCE NO. 5750

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE CITY OF WATERLOO CODE OF ORDINANCES BY AMENDING TITLE 1, ADMINISTRATION, CHAPTER 4, MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL, SECTION 11, METHOD OF KEEPING MINUTES.

   BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF WATERLOO, IOWA AS FOLLOWS:

   Section 1. Title 1, Administration, Chapter 4, Mayor and City Council, Section 11, Method of Keeping Minutes is amended to read as follows:

   1-4-11: METHOD OF KEEPING MINUTES:

A.   The city clerk shall record the minutes of all city council meetings in accordance with Iowa Code Section 21.3(2). A record shall be made of the name of the member of the public recognized by the chair to speak. Open session minutes shall be available for viewing during normal city hall business hours as soon as the minutes of the meeting are complete. Minutes shall be made available no later than the close of business on the Friday prior to the next regular council meeting.

B.   Council members shall notify the city clerk prior to the start of the meeting if a correction to the previous meeting's minutes is suggested to allow the city clerk time to verify that such a correction is required.

        Section 2. This ordinance shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and

publication as provided by law.
