(A) (1) No person shall slaughter any cattle, calves, sheep, swine or goats within the city except in the municipal slaughterhouse, or in a slaughterhouse licensed by the Board of Commissioners of Public Health, except in cases where the transportation of an animal for slaughter to the municipal slaughterhouse would be dangerous or impracticable and in such cases only when the municipal inspector or inspecting agent shall have been notified before the slaughter and given an opportunity to be present.
(2) If the municipal inspector or inspecting agent is unable to be present or is not present at the slaughtering, the carcass with viscera and head attached by their natural attachments shall be presented to the municipal inspector or inspecting agent at the municipal slaughterhouse for inspection before the carcass or any part thereof is offered for sale.
(B) No animals shall be slaughtered at the municipal abattoir or at a slaughterhouse licensed by the Board of Commissioners of Public Health, except in cases as is otherwise provided by this subchapter, unless a licensed veterinary is present.
