§ 99.09 PROCEDURES FOR APPEAL.
   An owner of real property who has received notice of a violation of this chapter, or who has received a bill for abatement of a violation under this chapter, may appeal the same to the Board of Public Works and Safety of the city by requesting a hearing. The appeal shall be initiated in writing within ten days of the receipt of the notice or the bill. The request for a hearing must be addressed to the office of the Building Commissioner of the City of Washington Indiana, and delivered in person or by certified mail. Upon receipt of a hearing request, the Code Enforcement Officer will place a moratorium on the ten day abatement deadline until a verdict has been reached by the Board of Public Works and Safety. The appeal shall thereafter be referred to the Board of Public Works and Safety for hearing at its next regular or specially called meeting. The appealing owner shall be given at least ten days written notice of the meeting, and shall be entitled to appear in person and/ or by representation to be heard on his or her appeal.
