A. Successful bidders at an in person auction must tender full payment to the Washington County treasurer by four o'clock (4:00) P.M. of the business day immediately following the day of the tax sale. A partial payment of no less than twenty five percent (25%) of the bid amount must be paid to the treasurer on the day of the sale. Successful bidders at an online auction must tender full payment in accordance with the online auction provider's terms and conditions.
B. Payments for an in person auction must be cash, wire transfer, or certified funds made payable to the "Washington County treasurer" in the exact amount of the bid. Payments for an online auction must be in accordance with the online auction provider's terms and conditions.
C. If a successful bidder fails to satisfy the requirements of this section, the clerk/auditor or the online auction provider may contact the next highest bidder and offer the property to that bidder for the amount of the bidder's highest bid. If this bidder declines to accept the offer, the clerk/auditor or the online auction provider may then contact the next highest bidder. (Ord. 2012-1018-O, 5-1-2012; amd. Ord. 2023-1232-O, 4-18-2023)
