2-9-5: DUTIES:
The Washington County Council of Governments shall:
   A.   Engage in a cooperative and comprehensive process of transportation planning, corridor preservation, right-of-way acquisition, project programming, and providing public transit throughout Washington County by County and municipal governments;
   B.   Oversee expenditure of Local Transportation Corridor Preservation Funds based on appropriate considerations including:
      1.   Areas with rapidly expanding population,
      2.   Local governments' completion of proper studies and impact statements,
      3.   Preservation of corridors by the use of local planning and zoning processes,
      4.   Availability of matching funds for a project,
      5.   Cost-effectiveness,
      6.   Ongoing maintenance costs of property acquired,
      7.   The inclusion of the corridor or project on applicable master and long range plans;
   C.   Annually submit to the County Legislative Body a priority list of highway projects that may qualify for Local Transportation Corridor Preservation Funds; and
   D.   Oversee the implementation, expansion, and ongoing operation of public transit as funded by the County Option Sales and Use Tax for Roads and Public Transit, by grants, or other funding mechanisms including interlocal agreements. (Ord. 2019-1142-O, 7-2-2019)
