(A) As a courtesy to citizens and visitors in the city, a member of the City Police Department may, when requested by the owner and/or operator, unlock a vehicle door lock by means of a “slim jim/slim unlock reach tool”, or similar device or tool.
(B) Neither the city, the Police Department, or the police officer, shall be liable or responsible for any damage caused or claimed to be caused by the unlocking. The owner and/or operator of the vehicle shall sign a waiver and release of liability before the officer proceeds to undertake the unlocking.
