§ 90.21 IMPOUNDMENT OR DESTRUCTION OF DOGS IN VIOLATION.
   Every police officer, peace officer, or other authorized official shall have the authority to apprehend any dog running at large in violation of this chapter and any unlicensed dog in the city, and to impound such dog or have such dog impounded in the appropriate place. If a peace officer is unable to seize such dog after diligent effort to do so, he shall destroy such dog by any reasonable and humane means. Dogs seized under this section shall be impounded for seven days and if not claimed by the owner, or sold in accordance with state law, within that period, such dogs may be destroyed in a humane manner.
