§ 71.27 NOISE, SMOKE EMISSION OR OTHER NUISANCE.
   (A)   Every vehicle when on a highway shall be so equipped as to make a minimum of noise, smoke, or other nuisance, to protect the rights of other traffic, and to promote the public safety.
   (B)   The use of any mechanical devices operated by containing the engine’s compression and used for purposes of assisting braking or deceleration on any semi-tractor or other large truck, sometimes known as “engine brakes”, “unmuffled compression brake”, or “mechanical exhaust braking device” is prohibited. This prohibition shall not apply to vehicles used in providing emergency, rescue, fire, ambulance, or other emergency services used in responding to an emergency event. The city shall cause notices to be posted and/or erect signs indicating the prohibition against such engine brakes.
