Any member of the Police Department may seize any apparatus, books, tickets, tokens, tables, machines, instruments or devices which he sees or has probable cause to believe are kept, used, maintained or intended for the purpose of gambling in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or State law. Such items shall remain in the custody of the Police Department until disposed of according to law. Upon adjudication by the court that any such items were so kept, used, maintained or intended for the purpose of gambling in violation of any of the provisions of this chapter or of State law, the court shall forthwith order the destruction of all such property by the Police Department.
