(a) Removal of underground Fuel Storage Tanks (if applicable). Underground fuel storage tanks which are to be abandoned or removed from service must be removed in compliance with applicable State and Local regulations.
(b) Discontinuation of Utility Services. In addition to all other application materials, all applications for demolition must be accompanied by copies of notices of discontinued service for gas, electric, and telephone service (if applicable). The water service shall be terminated within two (2) feet of the curb shut off box. The sewer lateral shall terminate, capped and encapsulated in four (4) inches of concrete between the curb and the sidewalk or as directed by the Building Commissioner. Show where utilities are being capped.
(c) Building with Septic Tanks: Applicants must notify the Cuyahoga County Health Department and schedule an inspection where demolition involves properties with septic tanks that will be abandoned.
(d) Asbestos and other Hazardous Materials: If any fuel tanks, asbestos, lead (including pipes) or any other hazardous materials, are encountered, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and City of Warrensville Heights Building Department must be notified in writing immediately. All applicants must provide asbestos surveys conducted by appropriately certified contractors. All work shall cease until the situation has been assessed by any and all federal, state and local agencies.
(e) Dust Control Plan: A dust control plan must be submitted to the Building Department for review and approval prior to the issuance of a permit. A hydrant meter is available through the Water Department. Contact the Water Department at (216) 664-3130 for information.
(f) SWPP Plans. Projects that disturbs one acre or more of land must provide a Storm Water Politian Prevention Plan.
(g) Blasting: If blasting is required, blasting contractors must follow Occupational Safety Hazard Administration (OSHA) guidelines as in OSHA 1910. Absent good cause shown, blast surveys are required.
(h) Burn Notification. The City of Warrensville Heights Fire Department must be notified if the demolition includes any burning of materials.
