(a) There is hereby created a Fire Department for the Municipality. The members of the Fire Department shall consist of a Chief, and such officers and such firemen on active full-time duty as the Director of Public Safety may appoint and such part-time firemen appointed by the Director. All such officers shall continue in office until removed for the causes and in the manner prescribed by law or regulation, or until resignation.
(b) All full-time members of the Department while on active duty as a member of the Department are hereby required to wear Department uniforms prescribed by the Director of Public Safety. Such uniforms shall be purchased through a uniform allowance provided for and shall be and remain the property of the member of the Department.
