(a) There is hereby established the position of Part-Time Patrol Officer which shall not be subject to civil service and which position shall be filled by the Director of Public Safety.
(b) Such Part-Time Patrol Officers when appointed shall perform:
(1) The duties enjoined on them by the laws of the State of Ohio and the ordinances of the Municipality;
(2) The duties usually and customarily performed by police officers;
(3) Such duties as are designated and directed by the Director of Public Safety and/or Chief of Police.
(c) Part-Time Patrol Officers are hereby authorized to preserve and enforce the laws of the State of Ohio and the City of Warrensville Heights. This authority contemplates that such officers shall have the right to bear arms and have authority to make arrests. Part-Time Patrol Officers shall be employed on a part-time basis and are not eligible for participation in the Police and Firemen’s Pension and Disability Fund and shall be in the unclassified service of the City. Part-Time Patrol Officers are not eligible to accumulate sick and vacation time or other benefits which may be provided to full-time Patrol Officers unless specifically provided for by ordinance.
(d) Part-Time Patrol Officers shall be subject to the rules and regulations of the Police Department and shall comply with any and all additional rules and regulations in regard to training, administration, control and duties as may be from time to time promulgated by the Chief of Police, subject to the approval of the Safety Director.
(e) Part-Time Patrol Officers shall be paid within the pay ranges established from time to time by Council.
(f) Part-Time Patrol Officers shall receive an annual uniform allowance in an amount established from time to time by Council.
