753.05 LICENSE FEE.
   Licenses shall be issued for the current year, or the remainder thereof, from and after the issuance of the license. Once having been issued for any given vehicle, a license shall be renewable as a matter of course for the next ensuing calendar year upon the payment of the license fee, subject to the terms and conditions of this section. Fees for the issuance of such license shall be as follows:
   (a)    For the first vehicle licensed by any applicant, one hundred dollars ($100.00) when such license is issued for any portion of a year equal to six months or more and eighty dollars ($80.00) when such license is issued for any portion of a year which is less than six months.
   (b)    For each vehicle subsequently licensed for operation by an applicant already holding a license issued under subsection (a) hereof, the sum of ten dollars ($10.00).
   Such fee shall be payable at the time of making application for any license hereunder or for the renewal of any such license. If the application is refused, the cost and expense of the preliminary examination herein provided for shall be deducted therefrom and the balance remaining shall be returned to the applicant.
