531.02 WEAPONS.
   (a)    Purchase and Use of Knives by Minors. No minor shall purchase, cause to be purchased, have in his possession or use any dagger, dirk, stiletto or other similar device of the type commonly known as a push button knife, or any knife fitted with a mechanical device for automatic release of the blade, opening the knife and locking the knife in the open position, or any weapon referred to in Section 549.07 (a).
   (b)    Selling or Giving Weapons to Minors. No adult person shall sell, give or loan to any minor under sixteen years of age, bows and arrows not having a permanently attached safety device such as a rubber suction cup, and/or archery sets, boomerangs, crossbows, javelins, spears, slingshots and the like, within the City.
   No person shall sell, offer to sell, give or loan to any minor under eighteen years of age any dagger, dirk, stiletto or other similar device of the type commonly known as a push button knife, or any knife fitted with a mechanical device for automatic release of the blade, opening the knife and locking the knife in the open position, or any weapon referred to in Section 549.07 (a).
   (c)    Use of Bows and Arrows, Slingshots by Minors. No person under sixteen years of age shall use bows and arrows not having a permanently attached safety device such as a rubber suction cup and/or archery sets, boomerangs, crossbows, javelins, spears, slingshots and the like within the City, except at properly supervised athletic events, at bona fide archery clubs or in playgrounds where there are adequate safeguards and supervision for use of the same.

   (d)    Whoever violates subsection (a) hereof is guilty of a minor misdemeanor. If, however, the offense was committed on school premises or in a school building or within 1,000 feet of the boundaries of any school premises, violation of said subsection is a misdemeanor of the first degree.
   Whoever violates subsection (b) hereof is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree. If, however, the offense was committed on school premises or in a school building or within 1,000 feet of the boundaries of any school premises, violation of said subsection is a misdemeanor of the first degree.
   Whoever violates subsection (c) hereof is guilty of a misdemeanor of the fourth degree.
