The membership of this Commission shall be appointed by the Mayor subject to confirmation by a majority vote of Council. All members of the Commission shall have voting power. One of the members shall be appointed from the Police Department (preferably from the Community Oriented Policing Division or its equivalent). One member shall be the Director of Public Service and Safety or his designee. One member shall be from Council and four shall be appointed at-large (from this group one shall be preferably from the news media and two who have completed training from the Safe Streets Program). Effective October 1, 2002, one of the members shall be appointed from the Fire Department and one of the members shall be the Deputy Health Commissioner or his designee.
