Any homeowner of a single family dwelling occupied by that homeowner can exempt himself or herself from the requirements of Section 1305.015
as to that dwelling by filing a waiver of liability on the prescribed form provided by the appropriate Building Division Inspector.
Any person desiring to improve a vacant dwelling, who will be a primary occupant of the dwelling upon completion of the improvements, can exempt himself or herself from the requirements of Section 1305.015
as to that dwelling by filing a waiver of liability and agreeing to reside in the dwelling for a period of two years from the date of occupancy. The waiver and agreement shall be on the form provided by the appropriate Building Division Inspector.

This chapter shall not be construed as imposing on the City any liability or responsibility for damages resulting from any defective construction work or equipment or installation thereof, nor shall the City or any official or employee thereof be held to assume any liability or responsibility by reason of any act or action taken in enforcing the provisions of this chapter or carrying out the duties authorized and required by this chapter.
