6.08.080: DISPOSITION OF IMPOUNDED DOGS, CATS AND OTHER ANIMALS:
After reasonable efforts have been made to locate and notify the owners of impounded animals or those persons having control or possession thereof, and after the expiration of seventy two (72) hours, the animal control officer or his representative shall be authorized to humanely dispose of the impounded animals by any of the following measures:
A.   Euthanization in a euthanization chamber as maintained and operated by the animal control officer or his representative;
B.   Injection of an approved lethal drug; or
C.   Any other humane means which is recommended and approved by the director of the Oklahoma City Zoo.
D.   In any case, the provisions of the ordinances governing the adoption of dogs and cats shall be available as an alternative to euthanization.
