440.015 TRUCK ROUTES
   (a)   Establishment.
      (1)   No person shall drive or operate a truck weighing five tons or more, including its load, upon any of the streets in the Municipality, with the exception of the following streets which shall be known as “truck routes,” unless the journey of such truck shall originate or terminate upon such Municipal street for the purpose of picking up or making delivery of a shipment or partial load.
         A.   State Routes 67, 198 and 501
         B.   Defiance Street
         C.   Harrison Street from Defiance Street east
         D.   North Street
         E.   Blackhoof Street from Harrison Street to the south corporation limit
         F.   Willipie Street from the south corporation limit to Pearl Street
         G.   Wood Street from Pearl Street to North Street
         H.   Bellefontaine Street from the east corporation limit to Water Street
         I.   Pearl Street from Bellefontaine Street to Logan Street
         J.   Krein Avenue
         K.   Logan Street from Pearl Street to Plum Street
         L.   Park Street from Krein Avenue to Pearl Street
         M.   Anna Street
         N.   County Route 25A - north
         O.   Water Street from Bellefontaine Street to the north corporation limit
         P.   Cemetery Road

      (2)   If the driver of such a truck does find it necessary to drive or operate on a Municipal street because of one of the exceptions set forth in division (a)(1) of this section, he or she shall use the shortest possible route to enter from, and leave to, the closest State route or truck route available, and shall not travel at a speed in excess of twenty miles an hour while operating on Municipal streets.
      (3)   The provisions of Ohio R.C. Chapter 5577, with respect to load limits on highways, are hereby adopted as the law of the City as to the operation of trucks over the truck routes set forth in division (a)(1) of this section.
   (b)   Signs. In order to notify truck drivers of the existence of this section, signs shall be posted in proper places warning drivers of trucks as to the provisions of this section, but if, for any reason, there are no such signs posted, or if such signs are posted and are removed, broken or destroyed, the absence of such signs shall not relieve any truck driver of the responsibility of complying with the terms of this section and shall not prevent the driver of such truck, if he or she does not comply with the terms of this section, from being found guilty of violating it.

   (c)   Penalty. Whoever violates any of the provisions of this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor and shall be fined not more than one hundred dollars ($100.00).
