(a) In addition to the Director of Public Service and Safety and the Chief of the Fire Department, the Fire Department shall be composed of such officers and other members as are specified by ordinance.
(b) A person between the ages of eighteen years and thirty-six years, inclusive, may receive an original appointment as fire-fighter in the Fire Department.
(c) A person receiving an original appointment as fire-fighter in the Fire Department shall be required to take appropriate training and satisfactorily complete all necessary examinations to become a certified Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) within twelve months of his or her initial appointment date and furthermore, shall be required to achieve and maintain certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Paramedic (EMT-P) within thirty-six months of his or her initial appointment date. Fire-fighters who are unsuccessful in achieving and maintaining said certification within the time frames allotted shall be subject to disciplinary action up to and including dismissal.
(d) All officers, firefighters, and other members as are specified by ordinance, shall during service to the City reside either in Auglaize County, Ohio or in any county immediately adjacent to Auglaize County in the State of Ohio.
