§ 70.21  SPEED IN SCHOOL ZONES.
   (A)   All streets adjacent to any public or private school are hereby designated as school zones, for at least a distance of one block in each direction from the school.  In addition, the areas listed in Chapter 72, Schedule II are hereby designated as school zones.
   (B)    It is unlawful for any person to drive a vehicle at a speed in a designated school zone greater than that which is reasonable considering the circumstances, to include weather, congestion, visibility and the presence of children.  In addition, it is unlawful for vehicles to be operated in excess of 20 miles per hour in the designated and marked school zones, between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 8:30 a.m., and between the hours of 2:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. on school days.
   (C)   The Chief of Police is hereby directed to place at the entrances to the school zones, and in such school zones, such signs as have been approved by the State of Texas, notifying drivers of vehicles of the maximum speed in the area, and the time and days that the maximum speed law is in effect.
