§ 70.20  STOP INTERSECTIONS.
   (A)   The intersections designated in Chapter 72, Schedule V are designated as stop intersections.  The Public Works Department is directed to erect stop signs at the designated stop intersections to control the traffic.
   (B)   Except when directed to proceed by a police officer or a traffic control signal, every driver of a vehicle approaching a stop intersection indicated by a stop sign shall stop before entering the crosswalk, shall stop at a clearly marked stop line, or in the event there is no clearly marked stop line, then at a point nearest the intersecting roadway where the driver has a view of approaching traffic on the intersection roadway before entering the intersection.
   (C)   All traffic required to stop above shall remain stopped until all traffic on the intersecting street or roadway has passed and it is safe to proceed into the intersection.
   (D)   Any person violating any provision of this section shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction in the Municipal Court of this city shall be fined in any sum not to exceed $500.
