(A) Jury duty and court duty. A full-time or part-time permanent employee who is summoned for jury duty or subpoenaed to appear before any court, commission, board or other legally constituted body authorized by law to compel the attendance of witnesses, where the employee is not a party to an action which is not related to his or her employment at the city, shall be granted his or her pay. The employee must notify his or her supervisor or department head and provide documentation of jury duty or a witness subpoena upon receipt.
(1) A full-time or part-time permanent employee cannot earn his or her regular compensation and the witness/jury duty fees when such duty is performed during the employee's normal working hours. The employee shall remit any compensation or reimbursement (excluding parking or mileage reimbursements) for jury duty or court attendance compelled by subpoena during working hours to the Auditor.
(2) If an employee is summoned for jury duty and is subsequently released, the employee is expected to report for work if a minimum of one-half day of work can be performed.
(B) Court leave. Employees appearing before a court or other legally constituted body as a party in the action may request vacation time, compensatory time, personal day. Such court appearances include, but are not limited to, criminal or civil cases, traffic court, domestic relations proceedings, custody, or appearing as a parent or guardian of juveniles.
