The provisions of this subchapter relating to stopping, standing and parking shall not apply to the driver of any vehicle which is disabled for a reasonable period of time while on the paved or unimproved or main traveled portion of a street or highway in a manner and to an extent that it is impossible to avoid stopping and temporarily leaving the disabled vehicle in the position.
