§ 50.50 SEPARATION OF MATERIALS.
   All owners, lessees, tenants and occupants of residential properties to whom the provisions of this chapter are applicable shall prepare and place for collection the recyclable materials defined and designated in §§ 50.46 and 50.49 of this chapter in the manner hereinafter set forth.
   (A)   Paper products.
      (1)   Paperboard boxes, cartons, corrugated cardboard, and paper bags shall be flattened before placement in the Township provided recycling cart. Oversized paper products shall be reduced into sections that fit within the cart without obstructing the dumping of its contents.
      (2)   The removal of paper clips, stamps, address labels, staples, metal fasteners, cellophane address windows, rubber bands, spiral bindings, or plastic tabs from paper products is not required.
      (3)   In no event shall plastic bags, twine, or other material be used to secure paper products for collection.
   (B)   Metal, glass, and plastic containers.
      (1)   Used metal, glass, and plastic containers such as soup, soda, and milk containers, shall have their lids removed and be cleaned and drained free of all food and liquid or other substances before placement in the Township provided recycling cart. Loose metal lids shall also be placed in the cart.
      (2)   In no event shall plastic bags or other material be used to secure metal, glass, or plastic containers for collection.
   (C)   Prohibited items.    The following items are prohibited from placement in the Township provided recycling cart:
      (1)   Scrap metal;
      (2)   Plastic bags;
      (3)   Plastic lids and caps;
      (4)   Plastic six-pack holders;
      (5)   Needles and syringes;
      (6)   Plastic microwave trays;
      (7)   Window panes and mirrors;
      (8)   Ceramics and Pyrex dishware;
      (9)   Plastics other than those listed;
      (10)   Paint, pesticides, oils, and cleansers;
      (11)   Stickers or address label sheetwaste;
      (12)   Waxed paper and waxed cardboard;
      (13)   Styrofoam and paper to-go containers;
      (14)   Organic material and food waste;
      (15)   Electronic waste (batteries, cell phones, computers, etc.;
      (16)   Such others as established by Township Committee ordinance.
   (D)   Recycling education.
      (1)   A Voorhees Township Guide to Residential Waste Disposal and a Voorhees Township Guide to Single Stream Recycling will be distributed to residents with each Township provided recycling cart.
      (2)   These guides will be designed to provide information on commingled recycling, recyclable items that are accepted through municipal collection, and how residents may dispose of other types of recyclable waste. These guides will be updated as required and posted on the Township website.
