§ 31.06 PROBATIONARY PERIOD.
Each person appointed as an officer to the Department shall first serve a probationary period of 12 months from the date of receipt of written certification by a certified police training academy within the state. During the probationary period, he or she shall be known as a “probationary officer.” At the termination of the probationary period, the appointment as an officer shall become final upon the recommendation of the Police Chief and the consent of the Director of Public Safety. However, the Township Committee, for good cause shown, by resolution, may waive the probationary period or any part thereof for any appointee who has had previous experience as a police officer and who otherwise meets the qualifications as set forth in this chapter and the laws of the state.
