The provisions of this chapter shall have no application to the sounding of a siren or the making of other usual signal or signals by any police or other peace officers in the performance of their duties, nor to the sounding of any siren or the making of any other usual signal upon any ambulance or firefighting equipment in the usual and customary manner.
