Any individual who has applied for a taxicab or vehicle for hire driver permit in accordance with the provisions of this chapter shall, upon request therefor, be issued a temporary driver permit for not to exceed sixty (60) days by the chief of police who shall not issue such a temporary permit if in possession of information which indicates that a driver permit should not be issued. Such temporary driver permit, while it is in effect, shall for all purposes have the same force and effect and be subject to the same conditions as any driver permit issued under the terms of this chapter, except the chief of police may summarily revoke or suspend any such temporary driver permit if the temporary licensee violates any of the terms or conditions of this chapter.
