§ 70.20 AUTHORITY OF BOARD OF PUBLIC WORKS AND SAFETY.
   (A)   The Board of Public Works and Safety shall place and maintain traffic-control signs, signals and devices when and as required under this traffic code to make effective the provisions of this code, and may place and maintain any additional traffic-control devices as they may deem necessary to regulate traffic under the traffic code or under state law, or to guide or warn traffic. ('71 Code, § 71.01)
   (B)   One-way streets. Whenever any ordinance of the city designates any one-way street or alley, the Board of Public Works and Safety shall place and maintain signs giving notice thereof, and no such regulation shall be effective unless those signs are in place. Signs indicating the direction of lawful traffic movement shall be place at every intersection where movement of traffic in the opposite direction is prohibited.
   (C)   Stop streets. Whenever any ordinance of this city designates and describes a through street it shall be the duty of the Board of Public Works and Safety to place and maintain a stop sign on each and every street intersecting that through street or intersecting that portion thereof described and designated as such by any ordinance of the city.
