For the purposes of this section, the Director of Public Safety shall determine who are full-time policemen and who are part-time policemen.
A uniform allowance shall be paid to personnel only for uniforms actually purchased. Payment shall be made after a bill for the uniforms has been presented by the policeman to the Director.
(a) Police Officers.
(1) All full-time regular police officers of the Police Division shall receive an allowance not to exceed four hundred twenty-five dollars ($425.00) for the first year of full-time duty and an allowance not to exceed three hundred twenty-five dollars ($325.00) per year for each succeeding year, to be used for the purchase of uniforms.
(2) All part-time police officers shall receive an allowance not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) for the first year of part-time duty and an allowance not to exceed two hundred dollars ($200.00) per year for each succeeding year to be used for the purchase of uniforms.
(3) Such allowances shall not accumulate from year to year.
(b) Dispatchers.
(1) There is hereby established a clothing allowance to be paid to Police Division dispatchers for the purchase of uniforms. Such allowance is as follows:
A. Full-time dispatchers shall receive an allowance not to exceed two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) for the first year of full-time duty and an allowance not to exceed two hundred twenty-five dollars ($225.00) per year each succeeding year.
B. Part-time dispatchers shall receive an allowance not to exceed one hundred dollars ($100.00) for the first year of part-time duty and an allowance not to exceed seventy-five dollars ($75.00) per year for each succeeding year.
(2) Such allowances shall not accumulate from year to year.
(c) Police Maintenance Allowance.
(1) The Chief of Police, regular full-time supervisory officers and regular full-time uniformed patrolmen shall receive, in addition to all other compensation, three hundred dollars ($300.00) per year for a uniform maintenance clothing allowance, payable semiannually, on July 1 and December 1.
(2) All uniformed part-time patrolmen shall be compensated for actual expense in the cleaning of their uniforms soiled in the line of duty, upon presentation and approval by the Chief of receipted statements therefor, payable semiannually.
(d) Dispatcher Maintenance Allowance. All of the full-time police dispatchers employed by the Police Division who are required to wear uniforms shall receive an allowance of one hundred eighty-five dollars ($185.00) per year, payable semiannually on July 1 and December 1.
