No bicycle shall be permitted on any street or other public roadway from sunset to sunrise without a headlight firmly attached to such bicycle, visible under normal atmospheric conditions from the front thereof for not less than 500 feet indicating the approach or presence of such bicycle, and operated with said headlight properly lighted, or a yellow or red light reflector attached to and visible under normal atmospheric conditions from distances between 100 feet and 600 feet to the rear when directly in front of lawful lower beams of headlights on a motor vehicle. The headlight shall emit a clear, white light.
