Each residence and business establishment within the Village connected to the Village water and sewer service shall have its own meter and account number. In those cases when there is more than one dwelling unit in a building or residence and each occupant of the dwelling units is responsible for paying for water and sewer usage, each dwelling unit shall have its own meter and account number. In those cases when there is more than one dwelling unit in a residence or building and the property owner or landlord is responsible for paying for water and sewer service for each of the dwelling units, then one meter shall be installed and one account number assigned. The initial cost for meters installed in a residence or business establishment within the Village shall be borne by the property owner or user of the meter. The cost shall be based on the latest cost for meters procured by the Village plus a reasonable sum to cover the cost of installation of the meter by the Village. The cost of subsequent maintenance and servicing of meters installed due to normal usage will be the responsibility of the Village Water Department. The cost of servicing or replacement of meters rendered inoperable due to winter freezing will be the responsibility of the property owner or meter user. (Ord. 00-010. Passed 7-10-00.)
