The Public Works Division shall be supervised, managed, coordinated and directed by the Superintendent of Public Works. It shall consist of the following sections: Street, Water, Sanitation, Sewer, Wastewater Treatment and Public Properties. It shall be the mission of the Division to maintain the public rights of way within the City, keeping them free of nuisance; to provide water, clear of harmful agents and of sufficient volume, to properties and fire hydrants, wherever City owned water mains are installed; to maintain storm and sanitary sewers, to treat wastewater from the City's sanitary sewer system and such other sources as are legally authorized; to maintain City lands and structures not assigned to other divisions; and to collect refuse and trash from customers of the City's sanitation service and provide for its disposal.
