133.02 FIREFIGHTER'S QUALIFICATIONS.
   In any appointment of a full-time firefighter, the applicant:
   (a)   Must establish residency as defined in Section 151.01 within thirty (30) days after serving their probationary period;
   (b)   Following a conditional offer of employment, the applicant must pass a medical examination by a healthcare professional which meets the requirements of Ohio R.C. 124.42, certifying that the applicant is free of cardiovascular and pulmonary diseases and showing that the person meets the physical requirements necessary to perform the duties of firefighter in the City of Upper Sandusky. The applicant must successfully pass a drug and alcohol screening in accordance with applicable City policy. The City may also require the applicant submit to a psychological examination by a psychologist designated by the City, following a conditional offer of employment;
   (c)   Must be at least eighteen years of age and less than thirty-six years of age for an original appointment, unless transferring from a full-time paid firefighter position with another Fire Department or transferring from the City’s Volunteer Fire Division;
   (d)   Must be an United States citizen or have a valid permanent resident card;
   (e)   Must be of good moral character;
   (f)   Must take a Civil Service exam for full-time firefighter;
   (g)   Must have a valid Ohio driver’s license and be an insurable operator under the City’s motor vehicle insurance plans;
   (h)   Must have no felony convictions as defined by Ohio R.C. 124.34 or any criminal record that would disqualify the applicant from certification as a firefighter by the State of Ohio;
   (i)   Must execute and deliver to the Safety Committee or other appointing officer an Authorization to Release Information necessary to verify the applicant’s answers to questions contained on the City’s Application for Employment;
   (j)   Must be fingerprinted for purposes of a criminal background investigation; and
   (k)   Must have a certificate evidencing satisfactory completion of a firefighter training program as set forth in the Ohio Revised Code.
