§ 91.16 LOST OR STRAY DOMESTIC ANIMALS.
   (A)   Owners of animals must notify the Police Department of missing animals within 48 hours of the animal becoming lost/stolen.
   (B)   Owners of missing animals must make a reasonable effort to locate the animal.
   (C)   (1)   Persons finding a stray animal are to notify the Police Department or a local animal control facility within 48 hours.
      (2)   At the discretion of the enforcement authority, the animal may be kept by the finder and a found report completed to enable the finder to return the animal to its owner.
   (D)   Upon demand by an animal control facility, any found animal will be taken to an animal control facility, veterinary office or Humane Society and scanned for an identifying microchip.
   (E)   Persons finding an animal are obligated to comply with all the rules and regulations of this chapter pertaining to the care and treatment of animals while the animal is in their custody.
   (F)   The finder may be considered the found animal’s owner only after the animal is in the finder’s custody for 30 continuous days.
