901.14 STOP WORK.
The Fire Chief or his designee may, upon discovering excavation or trenching without a permit, issue a stop work order requiring the owner or contractor, or their agents, to cease all excavation or trenching until a permit is obtained. Such stop work order may order the site to be immediately made safe by whatever means are required, including, but not limited to, filling any such excavation or trench. Subsequent to the issuance of an Excavation Site Safety Permit, should the Fire Chief or his designee have reasonable cause to believe an owner, agent or contractor is failing to comply with either Federal (including 29 CFR 1926(P)) or State regulations governing excavations or trenching, he may issue a stop work order. Copies of all stop work orders shall be forwarded to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) together with any request for enforcement action by OSHA. The City of Twinsburg will not be liable for the issuance or non-issuance of stop work orders.
