147.10 TEMPORARY WORK ASSIGNMENT AND WORKING OUT OF CLASSIFICATION.
   (a)   Temporary Work Assignment: In the case of a prolonged absence of or vacancy in the position of Department Head or Senior Administrative Staff, an employee may be temporarily assigned to assume the duties and requirements of the absent Department Head or Senior Administrative staff member for a period not to exceed six (6) months. If such vacancy continues beyond six (6) months, the Mayor may extend the temporary work assignment for up to an additional six (6) months but in no event may the temporary assignment last beyond one year. Compensation for an employee placed into a temporary work assignment shall be at a rate above the employee's current rate but no higher than fifteen percent (15%) below the starting rate of the Department Head or Senior Administrative staff position that the employee is being assigned.
 
   (b)   Working Out of Classification. If an employee's duties include the requirements or skills of two or more positions, the base pay for the higher skill position will prevail, provided at least fifty-percent (50%) of his average work week is occupied by utilizing those skills. This Provision shall not apply to an employee placed into a Temporary Work Assignment as set forth herein. (Ord. 89-2021. Passed 12-14-21.)
