541.11 DAMAGING FIRE HYDRANTS.
   (a)    No person not authorized to do so shall break, destroy, damage, paint or otherwise deface any fire hydrant. In the event any person does damage to a fire hydrant within the corporate limits necessitating its repair, restoration or replacement, such person or his heirs shall be responsible therefor and shall be required to post with the Mayor a bond or cash in the amount of three hundred dollars ($300.00) to secure and insure reimbursement of the cost of repair, restoration or replacement. If the cost to the Municipality shall be less than three hundred dollars ($300.00) for the repair, restoration or replacement of such fire hydrant, the difference shall be refunded to the person responsible therefor, and, in the event the cost shall be greater than three hundred dollars ($300.00), the Mayor shall collect such greater amount from the person responsible therefor. Failure to post the security required herein shall constitute a violation of this section.
   (b)   Whoever violates this section is guilty of a misdemeanor of the second degree.
