(a) No person shall leave or deposit poison, poisoned food, or any substance containing poison, in any place where it may be found by any person or animal; provided that this section shall not apply to the use of poisonous substances with due and proper precaution for the extermination of rats or other rodents, nor to the proper use of sprays in the growing of fruits and vegetables.

(b) Whoever violates this section is guilty of a minor misdemeanor.
