§ 52.09 OPEN, UNPROTECTED EXCAVATION PROHIBITED.

It shall be unlawful for any contractor for any public or private work, or for any officer or other person making any excavation, upon or adjoining any street, alley, or sidewalk, or having charge of the excavation, to leave it open and unprotected so as to endanger the safety of persons or animals passing thereby.
