All employees of the City who are in the classified service of the Civil Service, specifically excluding all police officers and fire fighters, shall be on a probationary period of 130 working days from the date of their original appointment. All police officers and fire fighters shall serve a probationary period of one year. All employees who receive promotional appointments shall serve a probationary period of the same duration, which is one (1 year for police officers and fire fighters; 130 working days for all others). All probationary periods (original and promotional) shall be subject to the rules of the Troy Civil Service Commission.
