741.06 PROTECTION OF TREES.
   (a)   In the erection, alteration, or repair of any building, structure, or other work the owner, his agent or individual contractor shall take measures necessary to prevent injury to public trees.
   (b)   No person shall deposit, place, store, or maintain upon any treelawn or public place any stone, brick, sand, concrete, or other materials which may impede the free passage of water, air, or nutrients to the root zone of any tree.
   (c)   Contractors who execute any construction project that will affect any trees in the treelawn or other public place shall notify the City Forester in advance of such operations.
   (d)   No person shall intentionally damage, cut carve or otherwise disfigure any trees.
   (e)   Utility providers required to prune or clear trees in the street right of way, utility easement or other public place shall notify the City Forester in advance of such operations. Guidelines established by the Tree Care Industry Association for utility line-clearance trimming shall be followed.
   (f)   During any construction operation, a temporary protective barrier shall be installed directly vertical from the edge of a tree's dripline. This applies to all public trees. This will reduce soil compaction in the root zone area of the tree and provide protection to the trunk and branches.
