6-1-3: DYNAMIC BRAKING DEVICES:
   A.   Declaration Of Policy: It is declared to be the policy of the city to prohibit the making of excessive, unnecessary loud noises which are unnatural in their place and use and are detrimental to the public health, comfort, welfare and peace and quiet of the residents of the city.
   B.   Defined: "Dynamic braking device" (commonly referred to as "jake brake") means a device used primarily on trucks for the conversions of the engine from an internal combustion engine to an air compressor for the purpose of braking without the use of wheel brakes.
   C.   Use Prohibited: No person shall operate or permit the operation of any motor vehicle with a dynamic braking device engaged within the boundaries of the city, except to avert imminent danger. The emitting of any compression noise shall be prima facie evidence of the use of engine compression. (Ord. 10-14-97-A, 3-12-1997)
   D.   Penalty: Any person violating the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a class B misdemeanor, punishable as provided in section 1-4-1 of this code. Each day such violation is committed or permitted to continue shall constitute a separate offense and shall be punishable as such. (Ord. 10-14-97-A, 3-12-1997; amd. 2014 Code)
