Every animal so vicious and dangerous that it cannot be reasonably controlled shall be considered a hazard to the public safety, and the animal control officer may impound the animal and shall seek a court order for destruction of the animal. An animal impounded pursuant to this section may not be redeemed, pursuant to the provisions of this chapter, while awaiting final decision as to the disposition to be made of the animal.
