It shall be unlawful for any person, firm, or corporation or association to build, construct, maintain, operate, conduct, or manage any hospital, sanitarium, pesthouse, or any other institution, building, or place for the reception, care, and treatment of any person or persons known to be afflicted with any disease or a contagious, infectious, tuberculous, epidemic, or communicable character whatsoever within a distance of one-half mile of any residence or other building within the corporate limits of the municipality, used in part or as a whole for residence purposes or human habitation, subject also to all the foregoing provisions of this subchapter.
