A contractor is hereby defined as a person, firm, corporation, limited liability company, or other entity who or which performs work to maintain, repair, remodel, construct, demolish, alter, or otherwise improve any land, building, or other structure for hire within the City of Tiffin. For purposes of this Chapter 725, a person is defined as a natural person who is eighteen years of age or older. (Ord. 23-59. Passed 9-5-23.)
Any contractor shall, before commencing any work or performing any service within the City, register with the City Administrator on forms provided by the City Administrator and which shall set forth the full name, mailing address, email address, and phone number of the registrant along with any other pertinent information required by the City Administrator including, but not limited to, complying with requests of the City Tax Administrator as authorized by Chapter 197 of the Tiffin Codified Ordinances. Such registration shall be renewed annually so long as the contractor continues to perform work or provide services as described in this chapter.

Each registrant shall pay a fee of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) for the registration as a contractor under this chapter. Registration shall be for a calendar year and shall expire on January 1 of the following year. Registration may be renewed upon payment of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) not later than such date. There shall be no proration of fees for fractional parts of a year. There shall be no fee for renewing a registration unless a contractor fails to renew the registration by January 31 of the following year in which case the contractor shall pay an additional twenty-five dollars ($25.00) registration fee.

Any person, firm, corporation, limited liability company, or other entity who or which undertakes to perform labor or furnish services as a contractor as detailed in this section without first registering with the City Administrator and paying the fee as herein provided shall be guilty of a minor misdemeanor. Each day the violation continues shall be determined to be a separate offense. (Ord. 23-59. Passed 9-5-23.)
